BJP’s Campaign Blitz in Uttar Pradesh and Mumbai
As the crucial Lok Sabha elections draw nearer, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is ramping up his campaign efforts, particularly in Uttar Pradesh, a state pivotal to the BJP’s success. With more than half of Uttar Pradesh’s 80 seats still undecided, Modi is set to address three significant rallies on Friday in Barabanki, Fatehpur, and Hamirpur constituencies.
After his Uttar Pradesh tour, Modi will head to Mumbai for a high-profile rally at Shivaji Park. Joining him will be Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Deputy CMs Devendra Fadnavis and Ajit Pawar, MNS chief Raj Thackeray, and Union Minister Ramdas Athawale. In Mumbai, the BJP is contesting three seats, with Shinde’s Shiv Sena eyeing the remaining three.
INDIA Bloc and MVA Rally in Mumbai
Meanwhile, the opposition is not standing idly by. The INDIA bloc, in collaboration with the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA), will hold a mega rally at BKC in Mumbai. This rally will feature prominent leaders such as Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, NCP president Sharad Pawar, Shiv Sena (UBT) president Uddhav Thackeray, Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal, MPCC president Nana Patole, and Congress Legislature Party leader Balasaheb Thorat.
Intensified Campaigns in Uttar Pradesh
In Uttar Pradesh, the INDIA alliance is also stepping up its game. Congress MP Rahul Gandhi and Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav will hold a joint rally at Nandamhar Dham in Amethi in support of Congress candidate Kishori Lal Sharma. Following this, they will address another rally at ITI Ground in Rae Bareli, where Gandhi himself is the candidate.
Adding to the electoral heat, Bahujan Samaj Party chief Mayawati will address a rally in Pratapgarh, further intensifying the battle for votes in the Hindi heartland.
Amit Shah’s Visit to Srinagar
Union Home Minister Amit Shah is on a two-day visit to Jammu and Kashmir. On Friday, Shah will hold a security review meeting, with top security officials briefing him on the current situation. His visit coincides with the Lok Sabha elections and precedes the annual Amarnath Yatra, scheduled to start on June 29. This visit is not purely political but also focuses on reviewing the central government’s policies, including the abrogation of Article 370.
Court Updates: Revanna’s Interim Bail and Other Cases
In other news, a Bengaluru court granted interim bail to JD(S) MLA and former Karnataka Minister H D Revanna, who faces allegations of sexual harassment. The court will revisit the matter on Friday.
The National Commission for Women (NCW) will begin hearing a case involving allegations by AAP MP Swati Maliwal against Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal’s aide, Bibhav Kumar, on Friday. The allegations of assault have garnered significant attention, with the NCW recording Maliwal’s statement earlier this week.
In Jharkhand, Minister Alamgir Alam was remanded to six days in custody by a special PMLA court following his arrest in a money laundering probe. Despite his lawyer’s claims of vague allegations and no direct involvement, the case continues to unfold.
